he four sketches that follow use as their starting point a health-related event that occurred in an HSC study site in 1998, with the accompanying text putting those events in a broader context. This section, in combination with health headline news from the eight additional study sites, provides a sense of the variety and pace of change occurring over the course of a year in communities across the United States.
