Quantitative/Qualitative Researchers Join HSC

Sommers, previously a senior research analyst at the Hilltop Institute at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and a research associate at the Urban Institute, will focus on quantitative research, including analysis of HSC’s household and physician surveys, with an emphasis on health care coverage and access issues. Sommers earned her doctorate in health services research, policy and administration from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
Sommers’ previous research has focused on coverage and access issues related to Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. She has published in such peer-reviewed journals as Health Affairs and Health Services Research and served as a reviewer for a number of journals, including Health Affairs, Inquiry and the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved.
Yee recently earned her doctorate in health services from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a master’s of public health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Yee’s research has focused on the impact and long-term sustainability of nursing
process improvements, the organization of primary care and women’s health. She
will work primarily on qualitative research, including HSC site visits. Yee
has co-authored articles appearing in the American Journal of Nursing
and the Journal of Nursing Administration.
